Burbank School of the Ballet prides itself on developing strong classical dancers. Our professional teachers and training methods help to develop strong technique in a nurturing environment.

Here at BSB we do not teach any one syllabus (ie. methods) of dance. Instead our teaching methods are an eclectic variation of all of the best known international schools of ballet, pulling the strengths from each. The perfect placement that the RAD instills in the beginning years of the dancer is unsurpassable. The Cecchetti method, an infinitely technical routine that is set for daily work in which muscle memory is developed and challenged. The Danes have a musically unique, intricately linked set of medium-tempo allegro exercises that are especially useful for men’s classes. The Vagonova “Russian” method produces the strongest, most exciting grand allegro technique in the world, as well as the most beautifully coordinated upper body movements. The French are masters in the area of intricate petite allegro movements and battery. 

In short, each school has a specific area in which its students notably excel. At BSB we use in our classes, many particular exercises from each of these schools that will help each child produce such excellence.

Through the training students at Burbank School of the Ballet have received they have gone off to study with and been offered scholarships at prestige’s classical ballet schools such as: American Academy of Ballet, American Ballet Theater, Boston Ballet, Coburn Institute, The Harid Conservatory, The Royal Academy of Dance, The Rock School and San Francisco Ballet School. Many students have moved forward in their education choosing college and entered into the dance departments to major in dance.

The technique of classical ballet is learned and perfected in a highly structured daily regimen of classroom work. It takes many years of attending classes, to produce a dancer of professional-level competency, self confident enough and ready to enter either a college dance program or a professional ballet company. Here at BSB we hope to provide you with a steppingstone in life that will not only challenge the inner dancer laying dormant but stimulate and develop it as well.
